All About Skincare!

One of the most asked questions on my Instagram page is about my skincare routine. What products do I use? What treatments do I get? What places would I recommend? So I’d love to share it all with you in one place.

Healthy skin is not an overnight process. Yes, it evolves from time to time depending on new products I try, but if there’s one thing I love to invest money in, it’s my face. It’s the most visible part of our body, but it gets a hard time and is always on show.

I’ve definitely inherited taking good care of my face from my mum. I recall the first time she took me to Space NK on George Street in Edinburgh to buy my first proper skin care routine (it was Liz Earle) in my early 20’s – it was such a treat!

Over the past 20 years – and more seriously, the past 10 years – I have tried so many products from budget to break-the-bank. So here is a breakdown of what I like, love and cannot live without…

LED Face Mask

This has been part of my routine for over a year and I love it. I noticed a difference after a couple of weeks. I do this consistently 3-4 mornings a week as I meditate because it only takes 10 minutes and suddenly I’ve achieved 2 really positive things before 6AM

There are so many on the market and they can vary in price. This CurrentBody Skin is really good value for money, considering how expensive they can be.

PRE-GYM

I tend to use Rose Hip Oil rather than expensive face creams that will sweat off in a matter of minutes. I add SPF if I am doing an outdoor workout. I also pop on Clarins BB Cream and Sensai Bronzing Gel as part of my routine.

POST-SHOWER

I just love a Hyaluronic Acid serum! I’ve been using Barbra Sturm, which I got in the Net-a-Porter Advent Calendar (which is so worth getting to try out different products). I just don’t love the price tag as much! Although I did see a great difference.

A good substitute that I really like is Sunday Riley Vit C, pre-make up routine. Rodial Lifting Oil is magic too! It makes my skin glow and I feel lovely.

My every day go-to moisturiser is Filorga Time-Filler. You can order from Amazon for next day delivery or I often check Boots and online places for deals such as 3 for 2.

I also adore Augustinus Bader, so every couple of months I will swap to this brand.

Eye creams can be tricky. I’ve tried and tested so many, and even stopped using them for a while as they left my eyes feeling a little crusty (sorry, gross but true!).

Then I found the super luxurious, Sensai Eye Cream. It’s the only eye cream I’ve ever finished that left me hungry for more! Watch this reel for tips on how to apply.

And when it comes to SPF, I really dislike a thick consistency, but since discovering Sensai – which is like putting silk onto your face – I am sold. Seriously, once you try it, it’s hard to go back to anything else.

Lip treatment is something I do in the evening, but it feels so nice that I like to enjoy it twice a day! The lip is such a neglected area, and this product is just gorgeous.

And lastly for a primer, I use Rodial Soft Focus and Laura Mercier Illumining Glow to prep my skin for a fresh, healthy look.

Rebecca Treston in Dubai is a skin therapist who has been working her magic since my early 30’s and has dramatically improved the texture of my skin. Some of my most recent treatments with Rebecca include Intraoral, Laser Thread Lift, Ultralight Peel and  Fotona.

When I’m in Edinburgh, I see Elizabeth M and I have Oxygeno followed by LED Therapy

Both women are so knowledgable when it comes to what works for you which is wonderful because everyone has their own, unique skin journey.

Wherever you are in the world, invest in your skin. You are the face of your personal brand, so give it the TLC it deserves. Remember, your face is going to represent you for a very long time.

I will update you whenever I fall in love with new products. In the meantime, let me know your thoughts on IG – What products do you love? What do you recommend I try?
