The Sparkle Foundation Update

In February, Sarah and the Sparkle Foundation hosted a heart-warming evening focused on impact, sharing a comprehensive report detailing the incredible lives touched over the past 12 months—15,000 and counting! Just imagine: with over 350 students enrolled, 80 proudly graduated, and more than 98,000 meals served, along with supporting 9,219 clinic visits, the impact has been nothing short of remarkable. And that’s not all—there are 41 generous sponsors supporting children, 10 corporate volunteer trips to Malawi, and a dedicated team of over 200 volunteers spanning the UAE, UK, and even remote locations. One particularly special guest stole the spotlight—Chim,(link to his linkedin) the communications officer for the Sparkle Foundation in Malawi. Having met him during a previous visit in Malawi, it was so good to see him in Dubai for an internship with a digital marketing agency. His personal story touched every present, illustrating the profound impact of the Sparkle Foundation on both individuals and communities. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house, I’ll tell you that! The evening was not only a chance to connect with fellow volunteers but also featured soulful performances by Mbaile and a delightful initiative allowing guests to leave their mark through painting. It was truly inspiring to witness the tangible difference made in the lives of so many children. However, it also served as a poignant reminder of the harsh realities faced in Malawi, with a predicted 4.4 million people—22% of the total population—facing starvation by March 2024. These challenges are compounded by the lingering effects of Cyclone Freddy in 2023, a 44% devaluation of the Kwacha, and ongoing economic struggles. If you are eager to lend your support, don’t hesitate to visit their website for more information. Together, let’s keep the sparkle alive and continue making a meaningful difference in the world! ✨!
